Western vs Eastern Acupuncture

At Lincoln Medical Acupuncture, we offer both a Traditional Eastern and Western Approach, but what exactly does that mean?

  • Traditional Eastern Acupuncture stimulates specific acupuncture points to balance movement and restore health. It is best used for acute and chronic medical problems involving the nervous, endocrine, immune, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. Very fine wire filaments, or needles are inserted into the skin with little to no discomfort.

  • Western Acupuncture is used to diffuse localized pain by stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. This boosts the body’s natural painkillers and increases blood flow. Often used for conditions involving musculoskeletal systems, such as acute or chronic neck, back, or joint pain.
